Kings Canyon National Park: Trees and Plants
|
There many kinds of trees and other plants in Kings Canyon National Park, although of course the most famous is the giant sequoia. Below is a ponderosa or jeffrey pine, visible near the motor nature trail.
The ponderosa pine, with its distinctinve park, is one of the most plentiful trees in the valley.
Some of the sections of the valley floor are fairly rocky, but trees can thrive in areas such as this as well. Below is a picture of an incense cedar in such a place.
In heavily forested areas some varieties of ferns may be found on the forest floor, as the one pictured below.
Wildflowers abound as well, such as those shown below.
